Still Alive

I'm still here.

As you may have noticed, I haven't posted anything in several months, and I'm truly sorry that I disappeared without any explanation or anything.

I didn't feel like applying bright/ interesting makeup and as I didn't do anything cool/pretty, I didn't have anything to share or write about.

Most of my daily looks since November have been either neutrals or basic smokey eyes. Some days even just plain mascara, and nothing else. My inspiration and will to apply makeup was totally gone.
I used makeup because I had to, not because I wanted to.

On top of all this, my camera started to act weird. Pics were weirdly toned, out of focus, too bright/too dark (despite the settings). So if I happened to get an inspiration, I didn't get a decent photo of the look.

During January I had to get myself a new phone, and my new phone has a pretty good camera (not as good as D-SLR of course, but good for a phone camera), and I have started slowly doing and photographing my looks again:

So there's a light at the end of the tunnel at the moment, as for my big surprise I have also gotten good photos with my D-SLR again, so yay :)

If you're interested of what I've been doing lately (with makeup I mean), go check out my facebook fanpage or my instagram.
I did peeking Magaman look...

And bright Sugarpill look....

..and simple Illamasqua inspired Valentines look...

.. pop art look inspired by Makeup Geek's Weekly Challenge

... and glittery "anti-valentine's day" look.

11 Effie Trinkets

I got tagged to do this by extremely talented Unique Desire (go check her out!).
Each tagged person must answer the 11 questions given to them by their “tagger” and post it on their blog.
Then, choose 11 new people to tag and link them in your post.
Create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer.
Go to their page and tell them they've been tagged!
Do not tag back to the person who has already tagged you.

Because I'm a bad person, I'm not gonna tag anyone, but if someone wants to copy this to their blog, feel free to do so!
  1. What Sparked your interest in Makeup and what made you decide to start blogging?
I guess my original spark for doing makeup came from my mom, who's makeup application I could have watched for hours. I sometimes got to play with her makeup, I did all kinds of facepaintings to my parents, and later when my mom was gone and I was grown up, I continued my experiments with facepainting until I finally found "real" makeup products.
Spark to blogging came from you my readers, I started posting my looks first to facebook, then to MakeupGeek.com's forum, and finally someone insisted I should start my own blog and here we are!
  2. If you could only use one monochromatic set of colors of eyeshadow what would it be? I.e. only shades of blue.
Either shades of purple or brown. Both fit to almost any occasion.
  3. Do you prefer playing with eyeshadow, lipstick or nail polish?
    EYESHADOW! :D
  4. What do you want to be "when you grow up"?
I would love to be famous makeup artist, but I guess I'm gonna end up as salesperson. :P
  5. Favorite band/musician?
There's many, I listen all kinds of music. I really like new Nightwish, several Finnish bands, Lady Gaga,  Children of Bodom and some other metal bands... Like said, all kinds of music, sometimes I even listen classical music.
  6. Favorite guilty pleasure?
Besides doing makeup?  Eating perhaps :D And it shows. :P
  7. How do you like to spend your days(you know after you've played with makeup xD)
We go outside to play with my kid, I watch tv with my husband, draw, play videogames... And surf in internet of course :3
  8. Do you have any pets? If so, names and pictures!
I have 4 degus (three girls and one boy), a chinchilla and two rats. Their names are quite stupid actually,  degu girls are called V, Saippua (soap in Finnish) and Kakara (kid, brat in Finnish), male degu is called mies-mies or äijä (man-man or dude in Finnish), chinchilla is called either Muhvi or Pikatchu, and current rats are Loska (sorta wet snow, slush?) and Pöly (dust in Finnish)
  9. Do you prefer indie companies or cooperate companies to buy your makeup from?
I really don't care about the company, I care about the products (and price).
  10. The most rewarding thing about blogging for you?
Helping others. It's also my concern that I "mislead" my readers with wrong or overly complicated directions. It's amazing to see people influenced by my makeup, get them inspired and express themselves with makeup.
  11. Who inspired you?
Petrilude is amazingly talented. He's pretty much only one who's videos I've watched to learn.

And what it comes to makeup, go check out my version of Hunger Games Effie Trinket, with small tutorial:

Still alive (and a GIVEAWAY!)

.. I guess that's the most used title after the writer has been away for a while. :P

First I have to apologize that I've been  "gone" so long. I kinda found social life, enjoyed summer and friends, forgot to "paint my face" (mostly because it was too hot to even think about heavy makeup), fell in love with neutral shades.

You know the feeling, when you have crossed the line, and you feel almost impossible to continue, because you're so ashamed that you haven't done anything earlier? I have that feeling.
I really don't know what could I post that would make this up for all of you.
Maybe I'm taking too much stress of this, but that's just the way I roll ;P

I haven't forgotten you, and I promise to try my best to start updating my blog more often from now on.
I finally found my long-lost inspiration to makeup, and I have a couple of step-by-step tutorials ready, as well as reviews and swatches too.

This ain't a love song (nor makeup post)

Hola!

This won't be a makeup post :D

I just wanted to share my awesome new "sunglasses":
Now I'm ready for paparazzis to come :D

Then some of you might notice that my hair color changed a while ago.

My old hair used to look like this:
Color was almost grown out, it had no shape, no style, no nothing.

I went to hairdresser, and this is pretty much what I got:

Then I decided to order clip-on extensions from eBay:

Unfortunately, when they finally arrived, my own haircolor was already washed out so much, that the color wasn't exact match:

But it was still so close, that I got good image of how it would look like, and I fell in love with "long hair":

Yesterday I dyed my hair again, to make it match for the extensions:

Here's the comparison of hair lengths:

I think it looks quite OK! My own hair is a bit too short, and colors don't match 100%, and I'm not even sure if I ever dare to wear these out in public, but at least I can feel pretty with my long hair at home <3
(incase you're wondering where did I get the extensions or how much did they cost, they are from eBay, from this seller: cliphair2009, and the price was $26, basicly nothing. I guess it's not human hair, but it works great with me.)

I also tried to take new "profile pic" which would include something makeup-related:

But it was too hard to stay serious:

Especially when my son also wanted to pose with me :D

If you want something makeup-related, go to MakeupGeek.com, where are my reviews (and swatches) of new Urban Decay palettes:

 and
Review & swatches of the Fun palette is ready and on it's way too :)

Question

Would you rather like:
a) That I'd post small posts (a review/swatches/one look) more often
or
b) larger post once or twice a week?

Also, did you notice the Swatches page up there?
I'll try to update as much swatches there as possible, so that they are easy to find!

You'll get a tutorial for this one at some point!

1001 looks and BeautyUK review

Hola!
So, I've been trying to do a Valentine's Day look for you for a while now, but I just fail at using pink. It just isn't my color. But I made awesome lashes :D

I used feather, nail rhinestones and nail fimo :D Too bad they aren't really usable :(
But finally I managed to do super classic Valentine's look :D
Classic pin-up with 28 neutral palette:

  • 1 – lid
  • 2 - Crease
  • 3 – Crease
  • 4 – Highlight, inner corner
Paired with red lips, OCC NSFW:

I've been using MAC Peacock too lately, first I paired it with MAC Sweetjoy and Urban Decay Bourbon pencil:

Then I tried it with purple, MAC Vibrant Grape:

Also, my friend J went to a party, where the theme was 1001 nights, so I styled her and did her makeup:

For her makeup I used Sugarpill Goldilux and MUFE #92:

And I got also something awesome fit to that same theme! I got this A-MAZING indian bridal jewelry set from eBay:

Then a small review.
Amongst many other blogger, I also got some BeautyUK products to review.

I've tried beautyUK's products before, and I must admit that their lipglosses really didn't impress me much. Their loose shadows are good, but I've been avoiding their pressed shadows.

Bu now I got BeautyUK Lash-fx mascara and #6 Day&Night palette to try:

The mascara is OK.  I've seen much worse drugstore mascaras and also better ones. This is cheap and not bad. :D

 But the palette!
I was really suprised about it.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much, but this was really good.

Colors are pretty and pigmented and easy to use.
I love that it has a good colors, it has great highlighter and it also has black to make looks deeper. This one on great one to take with you, if you don't want to carry several shadows.

It's cheap and nice, colors are easy to pair (you get great combos if you take the opposite colors like black/white, cream/bronze, yellow/rust, blue/purple, pink/red).
How ever, I suggest you use a good primer underneath these.
Here's swatches:

And two looks with this palette:

And our ratpack also got a new member, we call her Possu (piggy) :D
